Acetaminophen is a common medicine used to relieve pain and reduce fever in children. It's generally considered safe, but like any medication, it can have side effects. I've been giving it to my child for fevers and minor aches, but I've been worried about the potential for severe side effects. The package insert lists some serious issues that can occur, like liver problems and allergic reactions. Has anyone else had to deal with these issues? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any advice you have for monitoring side effects.

I've had liver problems before, so I'm always really careful with any medication that could affect the liver. I usually opt for natural remedies when I can.

I had a friend whose kid had an allergic reaction to acetaminophen. It was scary! They had to rush to the ER. Symptoms included hives, swelling, and breathing difficulties. They had to use antihistamines. I'd recommend always having Benadryl on hand with this in your medicine cabinet. It was a blessing when my son's allergies flared up unexpectedly.

Severe skin reactions are rare, but they can happen. If your kid develops a rash or blisters, get medical help right away.

I've had a terrible experience with acetaminophen, I won't be using it. I gave my kid it for a fever and he ended up with yellow skin and eyes. We had to go to the hospital, and the doctor said it was probably due to the acetaminophen. It was terrifying. I can't believe more people don't know about these dangers.
