I'm scheduled for my first MRI and the doctors told me they will inject Gadobutrol 1mmol/ml Inj, 10ml during the scan. I've read the brochure but is there anything specific I should expect regarding the side effects or the procedure? It sounds a bit worrying, especially the allergic reactions and kidney problems. I am not sure if there are any post-MRI recommendations. Has anyone had this dye before? Any personal experiences or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I'm pretty sure they will have you wait for a while after the injection to make sure you don’t have a reaction. I’ve had this dye before and it was fine, but I know someone who had an allergic reaction. It’s rare, but you can’t ignore those symptoms if you start feeling any of them. Keep an eye on your urine too, just in case of blood stuff. It’s scary, I ended up calling the doctor about it.

Seriously, though, if you feel anything weird during or after the MRI, GET HELP IMMEDIATELY. Your life might depend on IT. Trust me.

I had my MRI with Gadobutrol a few weeks ago. My doctor gave me a list of things to watch out for, like kidney problems and urinary changes. I had to report back to them in a week just to make sure everything was fine. They were super thorough and checking my urine and all that. Definitely do NOT ignore any issues that come up after the MRI.

I felt dizzy and had a headache after my MRI with Gadobutrol. It was pretty rough, but it went away after a while. Just take it easy afterwards.

Why do they need to inject this stuff anyway? Can’t they just do the MRI without it?

Honestly, I wasn’t nervous at all. The MRI tech explained everything to me and I felt reassured. I would just recommend staying hydrated before and after the MRI, just to stay safe from dehydration. You can never be too careful.

Had Gadobutrol before. It can cause a feeling of warmth or coldness at the injection site, but that’s normal. Just make sure to tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing kidney issues. They might need to adjust the dose accordingly.

Gadobutrol can definitely highlight issues in your body, which is why they use it. It’s not just about making the images prettier, but about making sure they can see the difference between healthy and unhealthy tissue.
