I was just discharged from the hospital and I've been prescribed Sodium Chloride 0.45%/20meqkcl. The doctor said it's to help with my dehydration and electrolyte balance, but I've never had an IV drip before and I'm a bit worried. Has anyone here had experience with this medication? I'm curious to know what to expect. Also, the nurse mentioned some serious side effects to look out for, but I'm not sure what to do if I experience any of them. Does anyone have tips on dealing with the possible side effects? The doctor said to call if I have any questions, but I'd like to hear from people who've been through this first. Thanks in advance for any help! I appreciate this community.

I had this stuff when I was in the hospital last year. I wish someone would have told me to avoid chewing caffeine gum after the treatment was over. I got the worst case of tummy aches.

I've had this before after a bad case of food poisoning. It's not too bad, just a bit uncomfortable having the IV in. Make sure to stay hydrated afterwards too!

I had to use this after a surgery i had last year. Make sure you do exactly what your doctor recommends. I got lazy and tried to get back to my routine just because I felt okay. I ended up collapsing one morning after i stood up too fast.

My friend had to use this after a bad car accident. She said the worst part was the dizziness and weakness. Hang in there!

Be prepared for some irritation at the injection site. It's normal but can be annoying. Also, keep an eye on your urine output. If it suddenly stops, call your doctor.

I had this a few years back and got a massive infection at the injection site. It was hell. Don’t ignore any signs of infection.

I had this treatment and the worst part for me was the sudden weight gain. I gained 10 pounds in a week. And I did not even eat much. It was quite frustrating.

They call this stuff normal saline but it sounds scary as hell. I wish they could find a way to deliver the salts without the needles and IVs.

The side effects mentioned are no joke. If you start feeling any of that weird stuff, don’t mess around – just call your doctor. You never know how severely your body might react.

Serious question: how long does it take to recover from this? I need to get back to work asap, but I'm not sure if my body will be ready.
