I've just been prescribed Nitroglycerin/d5w 100mg IV infusion to manage my angina. My doctor mentioned it works quickly by relaxing blood vessels. I'm curious about what to expect from this treatment, especially any potential side effects. The information sheet is a bit overwhelming. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? How did it help with your symptoms? I'm also curious if there are any tips for managing the side effects. I've heard it can cause some pretty noticeable headaches. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Nitroglycerin works really well but it can cause some severe side effects. My mom was on it, and she had some issues with dizziness. Make sure you have someone with you when you start, just in case. Don't forget to report any of your side effects to your doctor.

That's a lot to take in! Definitely ask your doctor everything you can think of.

I've worked in cardiology and Nitroglycerin is one of those medications we rely on. It's fast-acting and can make a big difference for patients with angina, but it's important to stay hydrated. Keep a log of any side effects and be sure to discuss them with your healthcare provider.

Nitroglycerin can also work great due to how it dilates your blood vessels. It's not uncommon for people to have a few minor side effects. I've looked into it beforehand so I didn't feel as anxious. Read up on the literature and just remember it's prescribed because the benefits outweigh the risks in the long term.

I've been on Nitroglycerin for a while. It's a lifesaver for my angina attacks, but yes, the headaches can be intense. Try talking to your doctor about preventive measures, like staying hydrated and avoiding triggers. I also found that OTC pain relievers helped manage the headaches. Just be mindful of interactions with other meds.

I had a similar experience with Nitroglycerin. It really helped with my angina, but I did experience some side effects. The most noticeable was flushing. My doctor said it's quite common, but I didn't realize how intensely it could hit. I remember being so red that strangers asked if I was okay. It was embarrassing, but the relief from the chest pain was worth it. Just be prepared for unexpected reactions.

Definitely listen to your body! Nitroglycerin can make you feel a bit weird at first, but it should help with your chest pain. I had a friend who had some nasty flushing when he started. He switched to a different formulation and it helped a lot. Best of luck!
