I've just been prescribed Amoxicillin 250mg capsules for strep throat, and I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects. I've read that it can cause allergic reactions, and I'm not sure what to look out for. Is it normal to feel a bit anxious about this? Has anyone else experienced any worrying side effects while taking this medication? Also, what should I do if I experience any of the urgent side effects listed?

Sorry to hear about your strep throat! I took Amoxicillin a few times and had an upset stomach each time. Nothing serious. But I did have a friend who got that crazy diarrhea and had to go to the hospital. It's scary, but it's so rare.

You should avoid dairy while taking Amoxicillin to prevent an upset stomach. Just a tip that worked for me. Otherwise, I had no issues.

Totally normal to be anxious, but Amoxicillin is generally well-tolerated. Just finish the course as prescribed.

I always get yeast infections when I take antibiotics. Doctor gave me some yogurt and acidophilus capsules this time so hopefully that will help!

I've had both strep throat and pneumonia and took amoxicillin for both. Take it on an empty stomach or it will make your stomach hurt. I also had a friend in high school who got a blistering rash from amoxicillin. It was a pretty crazy reaction.

I got awful nausea while taking this stuff. I just put it in the fridge and took it with a cold drink in the AM to help it go down. Its not fun, but it helps you get better.

I had an allergic reaction to penicillin a while back, and although amoxicillin is a similar antibiotic, it's also known to cause allergic reactions. I would definitely reach out to your doctor if you experience any of those symptoms. I went to the ER and they gave me some antihistamines to calm down the symptoms and I had to stop taking amoxicillin. It's a tough situation when antibiotics don't work!.
