Just started Ampicillin 500mg Capsules for a UTI. Any tips or things to watch out for?
I've just been prescribed Ampicillin 500mg Capsules for a urinary tract infection. I'm on day 2 and so far, so good, but I've heard that antibiotics can have some nasty side effects. I'm especially worried about the allergic reactions and that severe diarrhea thing they mentioned. Anyone else been through this? Any tips for dealing with potential side effects? Also, how long did it take for your infection to clear up? I just want this to be over with as soon as possible!

I had a similar experience. The side effects were rough but the infection cleared up. Just make sure you finish the whole course of antibiotics even if you start to feel better. Good luck!
I'm on my third dose and feeling fine so far. Knock on wood!
If you get diarrhea, make sure to contact your doctor. I got C. diff once and it was a nightmare.
Ampicillin can be tough on the stomach. Make sure to take it with food. And yes, the diarrhea can be nasty. Stay hydrated!
