I've been dealing with persistent bronchitis for a month now, and my doctor has prescribed Guaifenesin ER 1200mg Tablets. I've read about the side effects, but I'm curious about personal experiences and any tips you can share. How often do you take it? How long does it take for the mucus to loosen up? Does it make you feel sleepy? Thanks!

I had no idea this stuff helped with bronchitis. I have tried it and it does indeed thin the mucus, but be prepared that it will be more productive than before.

I used this for my chronic bronchitis and it was a game-changer. Just make sure you drink plenty of water; it helps with the mucus moving

Side note: if you get the generic, it may not work as well. The brand-name stuff seems to be more effective for me. Also, 1200mg is a lot, so cut it in half if you can tolerate the smaller dose.

Take it on an empty stomach if you can. It helps with absorption and effectiveness. It is not a pleasant experience to swallow it but it works well.

No idea if it's safe to take for a long time. I was prescribed for 3 weeks but it feels like I am now up to a month. My cough is less frequent but I don't know if I will ever get off this.

I had no idea how much phlegm I could be carrying in my lungs until I started taking it. Relieved my congestion pretty quickly, but it was a bit gross to deal with in the morning.

Guaifenesin ER 1200mg Tablets are the only thing that has helped my bronchitis so far. It doesn't hurt to ask your doctor about trying it if you're really struggling.

Just started on this myself—has anyone else had trouble sleeping after taking it? I wake up every 3 hours for the last 2 weeks.
