I've just been prescribed K-Tab 10meq CR to manage my low potassium levels. The doctor said it's an extended-release tablet, so the potassium will be released slowly. I'm a bit worried about the side effects, though. I've heard about people experiencing severe issues like high potassium levels or even allergic reactions. Has anyone here taken this medication? If so, what was your experience like? Did you encounter any serious side effects or just minor ones? I'm especially curious about the bowel issues mentioned in the list of serious side effects.

I had to take a different potassium supplement, but it really helped with my energy levels. I felt really weak before I started taking it, but after a while, I started to feel better.

I don't get why doctors prescribe this stuff. I'd rather have a diet adjustment. Has anyone tried the banana thing to raise your potassium levels?

I had to take this for a bit, and honestly, the scariest part was the thought of experiencing a side effect. I did get a mild rash, but it went away after a couple of days. I stuck with it and kept an eye on my symptoms.

I think you should chat with your doctor about taking it with food and maybe a lower dose if your side effects become too aggressive. I agree with the people who said to stay hydrated. If you can't stomach the food, try just drinking a lot of water.

I had to take K-Tab 10meq CR for a while due to some issues with my diuretics. I didn't experience any severe side effects, but I did have some mild stomach upset and gas. It wasn't too bad, and I just took it with food to minimize the discomfort. I never saw any weird stuff in my stool. Stay hydrated, and maybe ask your doc about taking it with food.

My doctor said that if I had really severe stomach issues, I should take this stuff with a glass of milk. It helps the medication go down and absorb better.

I've had my potassium levels checked after taking K-Tab 10meq CR and the one time I forgot to take it with food, I got pretty bad gas, but nothing too severe. The worst I had was a minor upset stomach.

Be careful with this med. My friend ended up in the hospital with high potassium levels. Turns out, he was taking way too much because he didn't understand the dosage. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly and keep an eye on your symptoms. If you feel any weirdness, call your doctor right away.

You and me both. Never been on this stuff. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

These types of meds are usually prescribed when diet changes alone aren't enough to manage potassium levels. Track your diet for a couple of days and see how your potassium levels change. And remember, don't forget to take this thing with food to reduce the potential for side effects. A banana a day may help but won't be enough on its own.
