Lidocaine 2% Topical Jelly 10ml: A Must-Have for Pain Relief or Dangerous?
I recently started using Lidocaine 2% Topical Jelly for a medical procedure. It does a great job of numbing the area, but I've heard some horror stories about side effects. How many people have had bad experiences with this stuff? It's scary to think about the risk of serious side effects like acidosis or methemoglobinemia. Has anyone else had issues with it?

I've used Lidocaine for years without any issues. I mean, it's just as likely to cause a reaction as any other topical treatment, but I've never been lightheaded or drowsy
I had a friend who had a severe allergic reaction to it. He started wheezing and his face swelled up. He had to be rushed to the ER. I would definitely be cautious and monitor for any signs of an allergic reaction. It's better to be safe than sorry. With all the warnings and side effects you just have to be careful. You'll also need to listen to your doctor because they know what they're doing.
Just be careful and read the instructions. I had no reaction, but I've heard of some bad experiences with this stuff. Good post, OP. I hope everyone listens to the warnings.
I once applied it on the inside of my mouth for a minor procedure, and I felt extremely hot and dizzy. I knew something was wrong, and I immediately went to the ER. Turns out, it's not meant for internal use and the burning sensation was a sign that I should've stopped immediately.
I think people are overreacting. It's a common topical anesthetic, and millions of people use it safely every day. As long as you follow the instructions and don't use too much, you should be fine. I never have shortness of breath
