Lidocaine/HC 3-2.5% Kit: Life-Saver or Risky Business? My Experience and Concerns
I've been using the Lidocaine/HC 3-2.5% Kit for a few weeks now to treat some discomfort from hemorrhoids. It's been a lifesaver, but I've also had some worrying experiences. I've noticed some skin discoloration and occasional stinging sensations. Has anyone else had similar issues? Are these normal? I'm also a bit concerned about the potential for serious side effects, like methemoglobinemia. Is it possible to get this with just a topical anesthetic? I've read the risks, but it's hard to know what to do out of fear of the worst-case scenario. I've called my doctor, but I'm hoping to get some insights from others who've been through this.

I was prescribed this for hemorrhoids, I agree it's helped a lot with the pain and itching. But I've heard about the serious side effects. I've had a few moments where I felt like I needed medical attention, but I've been scared to go in and see a doctor.
It doesn’t seem like this product has any alternatives, I can’t believe there isn’t like a more holistic option or numbing cream or something.
I've been using this for a while now. My skin seems fine but I don't feel like I'm healing and I feel like I'm getting an infection. Any advice on that? I'm not sure what to do.
I've used this kit before for an anal fissure, and I found it really helpful. I didn't experience any of the serious side effects, but I did get some skin irritation. It was more of a nuisance than anything severe, and it went away after a few days of stopping use.
Burning sensation is a bit normal but if you’re experiencing blue lips or gray skin, definitely go to the ER
This stuff has worked amazing for me as well. I did mess up though and ended up putting it on an open wound, I got a slight sting and some redness. No biggie. If you put it on a wound it can hurt a bit.
If you’re getting skin color changes, this could be a sign of a serious reaction. If possible, try and stop using it immediately and contact your doctor. If you can’t reach them, go to the ER. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
I’ve read that keeping the area clean and dry is crucial. Use a mild soap and warm water to clean the area after each bowel movement, and pat it dry gently. It’s also a good idea to wear loose-fitting clothing to reduce friction and irritation. I talked to my doctor, and he did mention it can be a sudden onset of infection.
I think everyone should know the FDA website has a section for adverse reaction to medications, this can be a real big help for people.
I had a weird experience with this stuff. After applying it, I felt really dizzy and had a headache. Thought I was just tired, but after I realized it was the Lidocaine, I looked it up and it had sthat might be a side effect. I stopped using it and the symptoms went away.
