I was recently prescribed Ruconest 2100unit Inj for treating sudden attacks of swelling due to Hereditary Angioedema (HAE). I've had a few attacks, and it's been a game-changer. However, the side effects listed are scary, especially the urgent ones. I'm worried about the serious reactions and would love to hear from anyone else who has used this. The side effects on the FDA site include things like chest pain and trouble breathing. Did anyone else have bad experiences? Any tips welcome!

I have HAE myself, so I got this, but I've never had to deal with HAE attacks.

If you have to wait too long, you can get a prefilled syringe and it's not a complicated process, just walk into most pharmacies and they can figure it out for you, but they seemed to know exactly how to handle it. I don't want to freak you out but the severe side effects are legit.

So one thing I think people really need to know is that the urgent side effects are scary, but I think it's important to weigh them against the pain of an attack. I've had both and honestly Ruconest is worth it.

I've been on Ruconest and yeah it has been a game-changer. It's scary every time I have to use it because of the rare but severe side effects, but it's worth it to avoid the pain and swelling of an HAE attack. However, I did have a few headaches and upset stomachs at first, but they went away over time. At least for me, so far the benefits definitely outweigh the possible side effects.

If anyone is getting this medicine, it's worth calling your insurance company to make sure it's covered. It's a bit expensive.

Wow, I had no idea about the neurological symptoms. That's terrifying. Has anyone here had to deal with any of those?

I've been using this drug for a few years now. The Allied races of attacks were great. I've definitely had to deal with the side effects of it but it's manageable. I'd definitely recommend that you stay in touch with your doctor about any side effects because they can be managed.

The dosing itself is easy and since you're injecting it yourself, it's easy to figure out the process.
