Life-changing or life-threatening? My experience with Venofer (iron sucrose) injections for iron deficiency anemia
I've been on Venofer injections for a few months now to treat my iron deficiency anemia due to chronic kidney disease. The doctors say it's helping my body make more red blood cells, which is great! But I've had some scary side effects like chest pain and swelling in my arms. I've read the list of possible side effects and I'm not sure if these are normal or if I should be worried. Has anyone else experienced these side effects? How did your doctor handle them? Is it worth it to keep taking Venofer? I'm really struggling with this decision.

I've been on Venofer for a while and I've had some side effects but nothing too bad. You should speak to your doctor and get a blood test to see if it is worthwhile.
I had a bad reaction to Venofer. I started feeling dizzy and short of breath right after the injection. I had to go to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out it was a reaction to the Venofer. I won't be taking that stuff again.
I felt super nauseous and my face and throat swelled up after my first Venofer injection. I was freaking out but the nurse said it was an allergic reaction. They gave me some meds and I felt better after a while. I've since switched to a different iron supplement and haven't had any issues.
I've been on Venofer for a few months and I haven't had any side effects. I hope it stays that way. I've heard horror stories about reactions. I hope you are okay, DontCry. 😞.

I had a reaction to Venofer too but mine was different. I had this rash and fever, and it was really itchy. I took some antihistamine and it went away. I am still taking Venofer but I hope the side effects go away.
I had a friend who had a bad reaction to Venofer. It was scary, I had to take them to the ER. They are fine now but they switched to a different iron supplement. Be careful, please. Everyone is different, and some side effects are just a sign that something is not right.
I've been on Venofer for a while and I've had some side effects but nothing too bad. I've experienced joint pain and back pain. I took some medication to help with the pain and it went away. I would caution anyone who is experiencing symptoms but also ask your doctor to keep monitoring you and adjust the dosage or medication if it is too much. Remember that everyone is different.
