I've been prescribed Potassium Chloride ER 8meq Tablets to manage my hypokalemia. Has anyone else been on this medication for a while and has advice or tips? I'm curious about the side effects, especially the urgent ones. I've been pretty anxious about the potential for severe problems. Also, I'd love to know how others handle the side effects and if there are any tricks to make them more tolerable. Lastly, does anyone have experience with reporting side effects to the FDA?

I had a bit of a panic attack when I saw blood in my stool. Turned out to be a minor ulcer, but it was still scary. 10/10 do not recommend. Also, always keep an eye out for less common symptoms. Sometimes the scare is worth the lesson.

I think the biggest issue I had was remembering to take the tablets regularly. It’s easy to forget, but consistency is key with this stuff. I set a reminder on my phone to ensure I never miss a dose. It’s a small adjustment, but it’s made a big difference.

I had some weird stools, but my doctor explained that it was just the wax matrix from the tablets. Kinda gross, but at least it means the potassium is getting absorbed!

I've been on these for a few months now and haven't had any major issues. Just some mild stomach upset, but it's manageable.

I had severe stomach pain and diarrhea when I started these. I had to switch to a different form of potassium. I’m not sure if it was just my body reacting badly or what, but it was pretty unpleasant. I'd recommend talking to your doc if any side effects seem too intense.
