Liothyronine 10mcg/ml injections are a critical treatment for myxedema coma, a life-threatening condition caused by extremely low thyroid hormone levels. Administered in a hospital setting, this man-made thyroid hormone works quickly to restore the body’s metabolism and vital functions. However, understanding the potential side effects and their management is crucial for anyone undergoing this treatment.

Unfortunately, in emergency situations like myxedema coma, oral medications may not work fast enough. The severity of the condition means that the body needs immediate, direct intervention, and this is where intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injections come in. The injections deliver the Liothyronine directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system and allowing it to work more quickly. You should ask your doctor for advice if you think you are at risk.

I had a family member who went through this and it was terrifying. Doc's had to act fast and it saved his life

Have any of you experienced hair loss from this treatment? My aunt is worried about this side effect.

I just don't understand, why not just give a pill? Seems like a risky side effect profile.
