Lipitor 80mg: Has anyone experienced severe side effects from this cholesterol medication?
I've been on Lipitor 80mg for about a month now, and I've been having some muscle pain and weakness. I also woke up with a rash this morning so I am thinking of stopping. I've read about some serious side effects, but I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is normal or if I should be worried. Has anyone else had similar issues? I'd love to hear your experiences and any advice you might have.

I heard some people stop taking Lipitor and find that their cholesterol levels bounce back up. It's a tough decision and the side effects are more serious.
Run, don't walk, to the doctor with those symptoms. Rashes and muscle weakness are not to be messed with.
I had terrible stomach pain when I first started taking Lipitor. My doctor had me switch to a lower dose, and it helped a lot. Maybe try that if the muscle pain gets worse.
Don't stop taking it without talking to your doctor. If you can't stand it, call and ask if you can switch. They can tell you if it will be safe to stop.
I had to switch to a different medication because of muscle pain. It was scary at first, but my doctor caught it early. Definitely get it checked out.
OMG, I feel your pain. Literally. I had to switch to a different statin because of muscle issues. But, the rash... that sounds scary. Hoping you feel better soon.
Muscle weakness is no joke. I had that and it turned out to be rhabdomyolysis. Scary stuff. You should be ok with your dosage, but talking to a doctor is the best bet.
I've been on Lipitor for years and haven't had any issues, but I've heard the muscle pain can be serious. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it. Don't ignore the rash either, it could be an allergic reaction.
