I've recently started taking Cholestyramine Powder to help manage my high cholesterol levels. I was told it would help by lowering my cholesterol levels but I have no idea what to expect. The powder seems easy enough to mix, but I'm wondering if anyone else has tried it. Anyone have advice on how to deal with the side effects, especially constipation? I've heard it can be quite unpleasant. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Also, does anyone know if it's safe to take with other medications? I'm on a few other things, and I want to make sure there won't be any interactions.

I've heard that taking Cholestyramine can interfere with the absorption of other medications. If you're taking other meds, make sure to space them out by at least 4 hours. I take my other meds in the morning and Cholestyramine at night, and it seems to work well. I remember reading that, but I can't remember where my doc mentioned it, so I had to look it up. Do the same thing and space things out.

Has anyone noticed any improvements in their itching? That's why I started it, but I'm not seeing much change yet.

I've been on Cholestyramine for a while now and the constipation is definitely the worst part. I swear by Miralax. It's a stool softener that really helps. Just make sure to stay hydrated and maybe add some extra fiber to your diet. It's a game-changer.

This stuff tastes awful. I mix it with orange juice to make it more bearable. Anyone else have tricks for making it less gross?

Definitely talk to your doctor about any other medications you're taking. I had to stop taking my daily aspirin because of interactions. But overall, it's been worth it for the cholesterol control.

I've had a great experience with Cholestyramine. My cholesterol levels have definitely improved. I noticed that my constipation is really bad, and my doc told me that it's a common side effect. I'm taking a stool softener and making sure I'm drinking plenty of water. It's a bit annoying, but it's worth it in the long run.
