I've been prescribed Lubiprostone 8mcg Capsules for my IBS-C and I'm curious to hear from others who have used this medication. It's supposed to increase fluid in the intestines to help with bowel movements, but I'm wondering about the side effects. I've read about some serious ones like shortness of breath and allergic reactions, but also more common ones like headaches and stomach pain. Has anyone else experienced these? How did you manage them? I've also heard it can cause diarrhea, which seems counterintuitive for a constipation treatment. How does that work? I'm really hoping this helps, but I'm also a bit nervous about the potential side effects. If you've had a positive experience, I'd love to hear about that too. Thanks for sharing!

I'm so glad I found this thread. I've been nervous about starting Lubiprostone, but it's good to know I'm not alone. Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone!

I feel like my doctor didn't warn me enough about the side effects. I had terrible stomach cramps and headaches for weeks. I wish I had known it would be that bad. Are there any tricks to managing the side effects?

I had horrible bloating, but my doctor suggested taking a walk after taking the pill. It really helped! Give it a shot.

I was on Lubiprostone for a few months and it helped with my IBS-C significantly. The first week was a bit rough with some stomach pain and diarrhea, but after that, it really helped with my constipation. Make sure to take it with food to avoid some of the stomach issues. Stay hydrated too!

I had a terrible reaction to Lubiprostone. I got hives and had trouble breathing. I had to go to the ER. I thought I was dying. I've never been so scared. If you get any signs of an allergic reaction, go to the hospital. It's not worth the risk. I switched to another medication and it's been fine.

I've been on Lubiprostone for a year and it has been a game-changer. I used to struggle with constipation all the time, but now I have regular bowel movements. I've experienced some headaches and gas, but it's a small price to pay for the relief it brings. I did have a bit of dizziness at first, but it went away.

Serious side effects are the reason I stopped taking it. I didn't want to take any chances.

Lubiprostone can cause diarrhea because it increases the fluid in your intestines. It's a bit of a trade-off, but for me, it was worth it because it helped with the constipation. Just make sure you stay hydrated and monitor your symptoms.

I'm on my second week and I feel like it's working. No serious side effects so far, just a bit of gas. Hopefully it continues to work!
