I've been on Norgest/ethi 0.25mg/35mcg Tabs for a few months now and I've had a mix of experiences. At first, I noticed some minor side effects like fatigue and bloating, but they subsided after a while. The biggest issue I'm struggling with is the weight gain. It's been really tough to manage. On the plus side, my periods have become much lighter and more manageable. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues or has any tips on how to cope with the weight gain while on this medication. I know everyone’s body responds differently to birth control, but I’m interested to hear others’ experiences and how they’ve managed their side effects.

Weight gain sucks but it happens for a reason, and one of the benefits is the lighter periods. It's all about balance!

I've been on Norgest/ethi for about a year now, and while I did experience some initial breast tenderness and mood swings, those symptoms have pretty much gone away. I actually love how regular my periods have become! I think it’s worth sticking with it if you're experiencing side effects early on, because they might go away in time.

Just a heads up – I had a friend who had a severe allergic reaction to this pill. She got a rash all over and had to rush to the ER. It's rare, but be aware of the signs and seek medical help immediately if you feel something is off with your body.

Ooh, yeah, I've never heard of someone having a severe allergic reaction to the Norgest/ethi pill before. I think the first one or two months are the worst for most people, so the weight gain might be part of that initial adjustment period. Maybe you could try to exercise and adjust your diet?

This thread is bizarre. I honestly don’t get why people are having trouble. It has worked perfectly for me!

Be careful with that medicine. I got on it when I was 18 and it caused a bit of a low libido after few months. It’s a bit drastic and you may have to look at other alternatives.

Weight gain is a common side effect of many hormonal birth control options, including Norgest/ethi. It might be worth talking to your doctor about alternative methods, because there are other options, and it could be worth trying another formulation, or different dosage. I have seen patients go for other alternatives if weight gain is too much to handle.

I started on a lower dose first, which helped with the initial side effects, and then gradually increased. Give your body time to adjust, and if the side effects become unbearable, it’s always a good idea to consult with your doctor and decide on a plan. Low doses can be better to start with.
