I've been taking Zovirax 400mg Tablets for about a month now to manage my genital herpes outbreaks. I've had a few minor episodes of upset stomach and feeling generally tired, but nothing I can't handle. However, I've been seeing some alarming information online about the potential side effects of this medication. Has anyone else experienced any severe symptoms or had any really bad side effects? I know that it's important to stay hydrated and continue exercising, but I'm having conflicting ideas and need some advice. Also, does anyone know if there are any alternative drugs which would be easier to tolerate given these symptoms? What are the trade-offs here? I switched from Zovirax to Valacyclovir and it was a game-changer. I barely get any side effects anymore. Talk to your doctor about it. There are definitely other options out there.
I had a friend who had a really bad reaction to Zovirax. She ended up in the hospital with kidney problems. It's rare, but it can happen. Make sure you're monitoring your symptoms closely and talk to your doctor if you have any concerns. But yeah, I think you should talk to a medical professional and see if they have any other options for you. Slice and dice your meds all you want, but your doctor knows best.
It's possible that you're having an allergic reaction. If you're experiencing any of the symptoms like rash, hives, itching, or swelling, you should seek medical attention immediately. Don't mess around with that stuff.
