I've been using Pediatric Glycerin Suppositories for my 5 year old, and while they seem to work, I've noticed some discomfort. I'm wondering how other remedies compare. Do you use them for your kids, and are they generally safe? I'm concerned about the serious side effects listed, but I'm not sure if these are rare enough to ignore. My pediatrician recommended it, but I'm hoping to gather experiences from other parents, too. Thanks! If you've had experience with other remedies that have worked better or caused less discomfort, I'd love to hear about your experiences with them. I've tried other laxatives, but they seem to cause more problems than they solve, and I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong with the suppositories. I'd like to know some tips for using them correctly so as to minimize discomfort and risk of side effects. Thank you for any advice!

These suppositories are useful, but the side effects are rare but scary. Make sure you keep an eye out for them and call your pediatrician if you notice anything. Success depends on the instructions you follow. I recommend using as a last resort, not a go-to solution, since the side effects are so scary.

I think it's worth it to hear your pediatrician about other options. If you have access to a natural medicine practitioner or a pediatric holistic doctor, they could have other ideas. They would be able to help you determine why you're dealing with constipation issues so you can target the problem rather than just the symptom.

Seriously, these things are a miracle. My son sometimes refuses to go and then it's a battle for days. I can give him this if he's really uncomfortable, it's so much easier to give him a suppository than to deal with a week of constipation.

I've tried every other remedy before turning to these. I was really nervous about using suppositories at first, but they work well for my kid. The side effects are rare, so you are probably in the clear. Try making sure she has a clean bowel movement (not anal leakage) before inserting for better comfort. This is a major improvement for us despite the initial discomfort.

I used these for my kid and they worked great! No side effects, and my little one was much more comfortable after. I followed the instructions closely and it worked well, so maybe this could work for your case.

Suppositories are a lifesaver! I have used them for years with both of my children when they were younger and have never had any issues.

Be careful with suppositories or any remedy. I tried these but they didn't work for my kid and I would not recommend for anyone. They are not as safe as they seem and the side effects are not rare. Contact your pediatrician if you have more questions.

My pediatrician recommended giving plenty of fluids and doubling the amount of fiber in diet. The constipation went away after a few days, and was worth it to not have to use suppositories. If you're going to try them, be prepared to deal with some unpleasantness.
