I've recently been prescribed Propofol (Diprivan 10mg/ml Sdv Inj, 20ml) for an upcoming medical procedure, and I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones. This drug is given through a vein to help me sleep or stay relaxed during the procedure. It's supposed to work very quickly and wear off quickly as well, but I'm still concerned about the severe and potentially life-threatening side effects mentioned in the description. Has anyone here had experience with Propofol? What side effects did you experience, and how did you manage them? I'd really appreciate some insights and advice.

I've never had any major issues with it, but I've heard horror stories. Be prepared for the worst, but hope for the best. Just make sure your medical team is on point.

I've had Propofol a few times for procedures. I only remember feeling groggy and confused when waking up. I asked the nurse about this, and they said it's fairly common. Definitely not the worst part of the experience, but it’s something to be aware of.

I had a severe allergic reaction to it the first time I got it. My throat swelled up, and I couldn’t breathe properly. I had to go to the ICU after my surgery. Make sure your medical team is prepared for an emergency. They saved my life!

I always ask the anesthesiologist for details about the anesthesia plan, but honestly, I don't ever remember the proopfol kicking in. I was told that the vent smoke from propofol makes your throat hurt in the morning.

Fun fact: Propofol is sometimes called "Milk of Amnesia" because of its milky appearance. It's a bit unnerving to see it being administered, but it works fast.

Hey, I know this post is a bit old. But just wanted to share. I had a friend who experienced some swelling and redness at the injection site. Turns out the IV leaked a bit. It wasn't too serious, but it was really painful. Make sure your nurse is vigilant!

I had a cough after waking up from propofol. The nurses said it's common because the drug can irritate the lungs. They gave me some medicine to help, and it went away after a few days.

My aunt developed PRIS after a long-term use of propofol. It was really scary, but thankfully, the doctors caught it early. She experienced severe muscle pain and weakness, and she was very tired all the time. If you or someone you know is on long-term propofol, watch out for these signs. It can be life-threatening if not treated right away.
