I'm about to have my first Ceftazidime 1gm Inj, 1 Vial for a severe lung infection. I'm worried about the serious side effects listed. How common are these? Has anyone else had issues like seizures or severe skin reactions? My doctor assures me it's rare, but I'm nervous. I'll be getting it intravenously, as I've been told it works well for respiratory infections. Hopefully, this is enough to get the bacteria under control. Should I be worried about the other less severe side effects, like stomach pain and diarrhea? Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated.

Because it's IV it's not like taking a pill, but hopefully you won't be in the hospital with it long. You'll get through this! You can do it!

I've had to get Ceftazidime a few times and honestly, it works really well for infections. I didn't have anything near the serious side effects, just a bit of irritation at the injection site. You should be fine, but definitely keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms. You might want to ask your doctor about the risk of C. diff-associated diarrhea, which is something they should monitor. I always ask for preventative measures when I'm on strong antibiotics like this.

Use the IV properly. I had a friend who didn't and got an infection from the injection site. That was a scary time for her. Just be careful and follow the doc's instructions and you should be fine!.

I had that weird neurological symptom where I felt shaky and weak. Likely because I had kidney issues already. I’d say pay attention to your kidneys, but ultimately you need to take the needed medication. It did work for me though.

People are so scared of side effects, but honestly, for most people, it's just nausea and some diarrhea. Nothing serious. Just keep an eye on it.

I had to get ceftazidime multiple times for a persistent infection while pregnant. No side effects. I never got any nausea or anything like that; just a bit of a headache. It was a bit tough to handle the IV stuff but otherwise pretty smooth.

I had a bad reaction an antibiotic like this, something similar to Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and it was absolutely horrible. I had a red, swollen rash and it was so painful. The docs said to go to the ER immediately, which I did. I’ve got to say it was rare and I’ve been fine, but I’d say keep an eye out. Thank god that went away. I hope everyone else has a milder experience.
