Hi everyone, I recently started taking Kanuma to treat my Lysosomal Acid Lipase (LAL) Deficiency. This condition has been a challenge, with my body not producing enough LAL enzymes, leading to fat buildup and organ damage. Kanuma provides the missing enzyme, which has been a game-changer. However, I've experienced some side effects like constipation and headaches. I know I'm not alone in dealing with these, so I thought it would be helpful to start a discussion. Let's share our experiences, side effects, and any tips we have for managing them. I'm also curious to know if anyone has dealt with more severe side effects and how they handled them. Thanks for sharing your stories!

The constipation was awful at first, but I started taking a stool softener and it made a world of difference. I find it helps to communicate openly with your doctor about any side effects you're experiencing.

I had a pretty rough time with Kanuma at first. I woke up with a rash all over me and an overall feeling of weakness. I went to the hospital and got treated with steroids. Since then, I've been managing pretty well, but I always keep an eye out now for any signs of an allergic reaction. Definitely something to be careful about.

I'm glad to see people sharing their experiences. It's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one going through this. Has anyone had issues with nose or throat irritation, like I have? Is this a common side effect I'm missing in the literature?

This drug has been a literal life-saver for me. I had severe side effects when I first started, including hives and itching. My doctor had me take an overdose of antihistamines to manage the side effects, and it worked.

I've been on Kanuma for a while now and have noticed a significant improvement in my liver function. The side effects were tough at first, but they've since subsided. I found that increasing my fiber intake helped with the constipation. It's amazing how this medication has changed my life!

I appreciate your detailed post. It makes me feel less alone in this journey. I've been on Kanuma for about 6 months and have had some mild side effects like throat irritation. I use a humidifier at night, which seems to help a bit. I'm also worried about the potential for severe allergic reactions but I spoke to my doctor and they put my mind at ease.

How often do you guys take Kanuma? I'm on a weekly schedule. Does anyone take it more frequently?

This is a great post! I have a family member who's been struggling with LAL Deficiency. Is it common for the side effects such as constipation to go away over time?
