I recently started my child on Bylvay 200mcg Capsules to manage their Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis (PFIC) and the severe itching that comes with it. The doctor explained that Bylvay works by reducing the amount of bile acids that return to the liver, which should help lower their levels in the body and reduce itching. It's been a bit of a journey so far, and I'd love to hear from other parents who have experience with this medication. How has it worked for your children? Have you noticed any significant side effects, and if so, how did you manage them? I'd appreciate any insights or advice you can share.

Very helpful thread. We're just getting started with Bylvay, and I'm grateful to know what to look out for. Thanks to all who've shared their experiences.

I've been where you are—feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. Bylvay helped. However you'll want to be very vigilant about the side effects, especially dehydration from diarrhea. My son had a few scares with dehydration, so we keep a close eye on his hydration levels. If you notice any signs, get to the doctor right away.

Are any of you parents considering or using alternative treatments alongside Bylvay? It's always good to have multiple approaches, and I'm curious if others have had success with different methods.

I've been on Bylvay for a while. Just wanted to share a semi-positive experience. I've seen a noticeable decrease in itching, but I've experienced some stomach pain. Make sure you're keeping tabs on any side effects and letting your doctor know right away. It's frustrating, but it's better than the constant itching.

This is a tough one. My daughter had a really bad reaction to the capsule. She got a rash and started itching all over. We were so worried, but the doctor switched her to a lower dose, and now she's doing much better. It's definitely a delicate balance.

I had no idea about the enlarged spleen symptoms. Not fun to think about, but good to know. Thanks for sharing, everyone!

I'm on the fence about Bylvay, given the serious side effects and how rare this condition is. What are your thoughts on the drug's long-term impact on your kids?

I've seen this questioning a bit. Is there a possibility Bylvay could be stopped if it turns out to be too harsh for your child? It's always wise to know your options so you can talk to your doctor about the next steps if need be.

Hang in there, parent! Everyone's experience is different, but my son has been on Bylvay for only a few weeks, and his itching has already calmed down. We were worried at first, but the positive effects have been worth it.

Great to hear you're seeking support for Bylvay. We've been on it for about 6 months now, and it's been a game-changer for our daughter's itching. We did notice some stomach issues at first, but our doctor adjusted the dosage, and it's been much better since then. Stick with it; it can make a real difference.
