I was recently prescribed Targretin (Bexarotene) 75mg Capsules for my cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. This retinoid medication has been instrumental in controlling the growth of my cancer cells. However, it is not without its challenges. The possible side effects range from headaches and nausea to more severe issues like pancreatitis and liver problems. So far, I have experienced some hair loss and dry skin, but nothing unforeseen. I'm curious to hear from others who are taking this medication. How have you managed the side effects? Any tips or tricks for coping better? I want to hear from people who have been on this medication for a long time too. Are there any long-term effects I should be aware of?

I've been on Targretin for about 6 months now. The worst part for me has been the severe nausea and vomiting, especially in the first few weeks. I found that taking the medication with a light meal helped a lot. Also, my doctor prescribed me some anti-nausea medication which made a big difference. Hang in there!

Sorry to hear about the side effects, but good to know it's working. My mom had a similar experience, and her doctor switched her to a different retinoid and that helped her greatly. You might want to talk to your doctor about that.

Does anyone know if the hair loss is permanent? I've lost a lot of hair and it's really affecting my self-esteem.

You might want to look into acupuncture. I know it sounds weird but I went to see an acupuncturist and it really seemed to help with my nausea and headaches. I think it's worth a try if you are feeling desperate.

I'm on month 3 of this medication and I have been trying to document everything so I can share with my doctor. I found that I have some days where I am so tired I can't move and then other days where I just feel fine. I am getting blood tests every week to see how my liver and pancreas are doing. It's a lot to handle but I have hope that it will work.

I've been fortunate to have minimal side effects, just some mild stomach pain and diarrhea. It's manageable, and I'm just grateful the medication is working. I've heard of some supplements that may help with the side effects. I guess it depends on what side effects you are experiencing. I think everyone has a different experience

I had to stop taking Targretin because of severe back pain. It was terrible, I could barely move. I'm now exploring other treatment options with my doctor. It's frustrating, but we'll find something that works.

I've been on Targretin for a year now and I feel like a new person. The side effects were rough at first, but they've subsided a lot. I've even gained some of the hair back that I lost. It's a journey but I think it is worth it.
