I've used Tolnaftate for jock itch and it worked like a charm. Just make sure to apply it regularly and keep the area dry.
I had a really bad experience with Tolnaftate. I developed a rash and had trouble breathing. I had to go to the ER. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone without consulting a doctor first.
