I've been prescribed Toprol XL 50mg Tablets (Metoprolol extended-release) for managing my high blood pressure and reducing chest pain. I've been taking it for a few months now. I've been on Toprol XL for a while and have had a pretty good experience overall. I manage my blood pressure well, but I wish I'd known about the possible side effects before starting. I've had some breathing issues and chest tightness, but my doctor assured me it's not usually a problem for most patients. Always communicate any issues with your doctor if you start feeling poorly.
I've experienced some depression which wasn't mentioned here, but it is listed on the official leaflet. It's a common enough side effect of beta-blockers and it is important to monitor for any onset especially if you have existing depression. Might be worth mentioning to your doc.
My doctor says it's normal to have some dizziness at the beginning of taking Toprol XL, but it should go away after a while. I just wish I'd known about the potential for depression. I've had some ups and downs, but nothing too bad. Hoping it gets better soon.
I started having chest pain a week after starting Toprol XL. I was so worried, but my doctor said it was just a side effect and to keep an eye on it. I'm hoping it goes away soon. Keep track of your symptoms to report to the doctor! It could save a life!
