What’s it like for preventing malaria? I'm traveling to a high-risk area soon and my doctor recommended it. Any tips?
I was on this for chlamydia, and while it did the job, the side effects were rough. I had some really bad headaches and felt super dizzy. Definitely not fun. But it was over quickly and I was so relieved to finish it.
Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, so it's great for a lot of different infections. But it can mess with your gut bacteria, hence the diarrhea. Probiotics helped me a lot.
I had a terrible allergic reaction to Doxycycline. It was scary but I was lucky. My symptoms were severe stomach pain and vomiting, but also swelling in the face and throat. As soon as I went to the ER and they gave me steroids, I was okay. But it was terrifying. Be careful, folks!
Vibramycin is also used for treating tick-borne illnesses. Make sure you finish the full course of antibiotics, even if you feel better. Stopping early can lead to antibiotic resistance.
