I recently started taking Macrodantin 25mg Capsules for a urinary tract infection, and I'm aware that it can be quite effective. However, the list of possible side effects is long and quite concerning. Has anyone else had any bad experiences or side effects with this medication? I'm particularly worried about the serious side effects listed, such as signs of an allergic reaction, severe stomach pain, and nervous system problems. I want to know if anyone has dealt with them, or if it's just a scare tactic by the pharmaceutical companies. I have a friend who swears by Macrodantin, but I'd like to hear more about the downsides before I continue my course.

I had tingling in my hands and feet. When I read the side effects, it was terrifying; but this was a hard thing to deal with when I was taking the medication. But felt better when I was off it.

Brown urine is normal and not a cause for concern. My urine turned brown and freaked me out, but my doctor assured me it was just a harmless side effect. Stick to the full course and you should be fine.

Yeah, the side effects list is scary, but remember, serious reactions are rare. I took it for a week and had no issues. Just make sure to take it with food to avoid stomach upset. It worked like a charm for my UTI.

I had a friend who experienced hair loss while on Macrodantin. It was reversible, but still pretty shocking for her. She stopped taking it, and her hair grew back, but it took a while. Definitely something to consider.

I stopped midway through my prescription because the liver problems freaked me out. My doc said it's rare, but I didn't want to risk it. Went with a different antibiotic instead.

I had a terrible reaction to Macrodantin. I developed severe stomach pain and ended up in the ER. Turns out I had pancreatitis. It was scary, and I'll never take it again. If you experience any of the serious side effects, don't wait—go to the hospital.
