I recently started taking Mar-Cof Cg (guaifenesin W/cod) Liq for a persistent cough, and while it did help with the cough, I'm concerned about some of the side effects I've been experiencing. The medication itself is said to contain codeine and guaifenesin; which should help with cough and mucus buildup. I've heard some pretty scary stories about codeine and I'm starting to wonder if this is really the best option for me. Has anyone else had issues with this medication? Specifically I've been dealing with more severe constipation and some dizziness. I'm worried about some of the more serious side effects like hallucinations and seizures. I've read online that some people have even experienced seizures. I'm really not sure if this is worth it. I am also concerned about the codeine dependency. Any thoughts?

This stuff is scary! I've never heard of something that causes so many issues, and almost all the side effects are serious. It was helpful with the cough, but not worth it.
I took this once for a cough and ended up in the ER with a bad reaction. Never again!
I've been considering trying this for my cough, but hearing all these horror stories makes me think twice. What's everyone else taking for congestion that works better?
I've had some bad experiences with this one, too. The constipation was unbearable. I switched to a different cough syrup and it worked just as well without the side effects.
I've had some serious stomach issues with this stuff. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Guaifenesin really messes things up.
I've always had issues with dizziness. I also have always been told codeine-based products can cause issues with that. I honestly think you should talk to your doctor about it.
I had to stop taking this stuff because it made me so dizzy I couldn't function. Stick to natural remedies if you can!
