D5w/nacl 0.9% Inj, 1000ml is an intravenous fluid often referred to as an IV drip. This mixture of water, a small amount of sugar (dextrose), and salt (sodium chloride) is administered directly into the vein to provide the body with essential fluids, electrolytes, and a bit of energy. It's commonly used in situations where a person cannot consume enough fluids or energy through regular means, such as during illness, surgery, or extreme dehydration. This thread is for those who have experienced this IV or are interested in the side effects, which can range from mild to severe.

Definitely call the doctor if there's any oozing or heat at the injection site. That could be a sign of an infection.

I once got an IV for dehydration and I felt incredible pain at the injection site. What do I do if it happens again?

I didn’t know some people might have severe reactions to IV treatments. I’m glad I read this so I can be aware of any signs.

My brother needed an IV after a surgery and he experienced mood changes and seizures. We rushed him back to the hospital and they said it was due to the IV. Be careful everyone!

I can’t believe people actually eat salt water thinking it’s a health hack. You should be safe in a hospital for proper treatment. Do not play with IV drip at home.

I’m actually surprised how common the side effects can be. I guess it's a good idea to always keep the doctor close by when getting an IV.

It describes signs of an allergic reaction pretty well. I almost forgot that some people experience skin infections at the injection site. This is a must-read if you’re considering IV treatment.

I’m a nurse and I can attest to it’s effectiveness. However, patients with diabetes need to be monitored closely due to the dextrose. Very good tip sheet, OP.
