I recently had an eye exam where I was given Fluorescein 10% Op Inj, 5ml. The injection itself was quick and not too painful, but afterward, my urine turned bright yellow. The doctor said it was normal, but I wanted to check in with others who have had this experience. Is this a common side effect? How long does it usually last? And are there any other side effects I should be aware of? The doctor mentioned the possibility of yellow skin, but that hasn't happened yet. Any advice on how to manage potential side effects would also be appreciated.

I've had no side effects from it when used to diagnose an eye condition. Just a bit of a headache, but no big deal. Just wanted to add that the injection is definitely worth it if it helps diagnose potential issues early on. In my case, they caught a small retinal problem that could have become serious if left untreated.

I had the same experience after my fluorescein injection. The bright yellow urine was a bit alarming at first, but my doctor assured me it was normal and would clear up in a day or two. Sure enough, by the next morning, it was back to normal.

I am not sure what to expect.... do you have to stay in the doctors office for a long time? The nurse told me about the side effects, and I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing.

I had this injection a few years back, and the part that freaked me out the most was the yellow skin. It was very noticeable for a while, but luckily, it went away pretty quickly. Just make sure to monitor any side effects, but generally, the injection is pretty standard and safe.

Two things: First, make sure the injection site is not inflamed or painful. That can indicate a complication while administering. Second, watch out for signs of allergic reaction: rash, hives, itching, swelling of the face or throat. It's rare but very serious when it happens.

Honestly, the worst part was the initial injection. I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to needles, but the procedure itself was quick and painless. The bright yellow urine was a bit unsettling, but the doctor assured me it was completely normal.I had a bit of a headache afterwards, but it went away after taking some over-the-counter medication.
