I recently started chemotherapy with Etoposide 20mg/ml Inj, 25ml and have been experiencing some side effects. I'm looking for advice on how to manage them and if anyone else has had similar experiences. The drug is given as an injection into a vein and works by stopping cancer cells from growing and dividing. I've heard it can cause some serious side effects like allergic reactions, infections, and bleeding issues. I'm especially worried about the potential for severe skin reactions and changes in blood pressure. Has anyone had these issues? If so, how did you cope? Also, I've been told to watch for redness or swelling at the injection site, which can cause tissue damage if the medication leaks. How common is this, and what should I do if it happens?

I wish I knew about the potential side effects before I started this drug. I've been dealing with mouth sores and diarrhea for weeks now. The mouth sores are especially bad. My doctor gave me some pain medication and mouth rinse, but it's not doing much to help. I hope the Etoposide is working because these side effects are awful.

I've heard Etoposide can cause some serious infections. I'd be really careful to keep yourself clean and avoid crowds. I'm talking washing hands, wearing masks and taking extra precautions. Unfortunately, a few friends of mine have had to deal with some nasty infections after chemo treatment, and it's no joke. Bacterial infections are the worst. Better safe than sorry, right?

Be really careful with the injection site. Tell your nurse if you feel any burning, pain, or see redness. My mom had this drug, and once they missed a vein, they needed to stop the drip and apply a cold compress. It was a bit scary that it can cause tissue damage.

Are you taking it for small cell lung cancer? It works well for that, but the side effects can be brutal. I'd suggest stocking up on anti-nausea meds and maybe even some medical marijuana if that's an option where you live. It helped me a lot with the vomiting, headache, and fainting.

I'm on my third month of Etoposide. I take it for lung cancer as well. It's been tough, but I've managed the side effects pretty well so far. I've had hair loss, fatigue, and some nausea, but my doctor gave me a few helpful tips to manage them. For hair loss, I just shaved my head to make it easier. For fatigue, I try to rest a lot and eat healthy. For nausea, I take anti-nausea meds as needed. And I also try to stay hydrated and eat small, frequent meals to keep my energy up. Hope that helps!

I'm not really sure about this, but can Etoposide cause long-term damage? I've heard some rumors about it, but I'm not sure if it's true. I'm wondering because I want to know if it's worth it in the long run, even if I have to deal with some side effects now. Any insights?

You will want to be very careful with side effects, particularly the serious ones. I've had hives and swelling, and I had to stop the treatment for a while. But with proper care and precaution, I managed to get through my treatment. Just be vigilant and keep an eye on things!

I've had Etoposide injections and the upfront advice was to watch for any sign of allergic reaction and get help immediately. I avoided a big issue by moving fast on a rash and swelling. It's scary stuff, but it shows how important it is to keep an eye out for any strange reactions, even after the injection itself.

I've heard it can cause long-term damage if it leaks into the skin but it's rare. I had this and the nurse caught it quickly. I got some cream and a dressing, and I felt fine after a few days. As long as you're getting it from a professional, the risk should be minimal. It's more about the side effects, which suck, but the treatment can be tough, but necessary.
