I recently started taking Tiopronin 100mg tablets for managing my cystinuria. I've heard it can prevent kidney stones, but I'm curious about everyone's experiences. What side effects have you encountered? Do you have any tips for managing them? Also, how effective has it been in preventing kidney stones for those who have been on it long-term?

The FDA link was helpful for reporting side effects. I had a mild fever and joint pain for a couple of days, but it passed. Still, it’s good to know where to report if something more serious comes up.

Don’t forget to keep track of any skin changes! I had some weird red patches on my arms that ended up being a sign of an allergic reaction. Early detection saved me a lot of trouble.

I've been on Tiopronin for about a year now, and it's been mostly smooth sailing. I had some mouth sores and a mild cough at the beginning but they went away after a while. Eating smaller, more frequent meals helped with the gastrointestinal issues. As for effectiveness, I haven’t had a recurrence of kidney stones, which is a big plus!

I’m new to this whole cystinuria thing, and the side effects list for Tiopronin is a bit scary. Anyone have tips on how to talk to your doctor about managing these potential issues? Especially the more serious ones.
