I've been prescribed Zenatane 40mg Capsules (Isotretinoin) for severe acne that hasn't responded to other treatments. I understand it's a powerful medication, but I'm also aware of the serious side effects, especially for pregnant women. I've read about things like allergic reactions, depression, and liver problems. Has anyone else been on this medication? What were your experiences with side effects? Did you follow any special precautions during treatment? I'd appreciate any advice or shared experiences to help me prepare. How was your skin after treatment? Did it clear up?

I never knew about the liver problems until I started taking Zenatane. I had to get blood tests every month, which was annoying but better safe than sorry. I got the results back and was really happy that all my results were in the normal range. I had a doctor telling me I had to stop if my numbers got out of range. Luckily I didn't have to.

I really appreciate how effective Zenatane was for me. It's a bit scary with all the side effects but I followed my Dermatologists instructions and was fine. I have to say the worst part was the dryness. I felt like a lizard. I had to buy a nice humidifier for my bedroom just to sleep comfortably.

Isn't it crazy how something that can clear up your skin can also cause so many other problems?

Zenatane really helped my acne, but I had to deal with some dryness and chapped lips. Make sure you use plenty of moisturizer and lip balm. Also, I had to get regular blood tests for liver function. It was a hassle, but worth it in the end. My acne cleared up significantly after 6 months.

I got really depressed while on Zenatane. It was so bad that I had to stop taking it. I never knew that was a side effect until I experienced it. I was really sad but my Dermatologist was really helpful and switched me to a different treatment. I will say, it was hard dealing with depression but very glad I caught it early before it got worse.

I had a friend who took Zenatane and she had a really bad reaction. She developed severe back pain and had to stop taking it. She was lucky she caught it early. It’s scary how serious the side effects can be, but for some people, the benefits are worth the risk.

I finished my course of Zenatane a few months ago. I have to say it was the most miserable 6 months of my life. It’s hard to put into words but the dryness and the mood changes were awful. Every day was a struggle. But, and I mean a huge BUT, I have the clearest skin I've ever had and I'm so glad I went through with it. Zenatane is worth it.
