I recently started taking Benazepril/hctz 5/6.25mg Tablets to manage my high blood pressure. I've been curious about other people's experiences with this medication, especially regarding side effects. The combination of benazepril and hydrochlorothiazide seems to be effective, but I've heard mixed reviews. Has anyone else had issues with dizziness, fatigue, or persistent cough? Additionally, how do you handle the potential serious side effects like allergic reactions or kidney problems? Are there any tips or tricks to make the medication easier to manage? I'm particularly concerned about the long-term effects and any steps I can take to minimize risks.

Be wary of the sun, folks! Hydrochlorothiazide can make you more sensitive to UV rays. I burned like crazy on a cloudy day once. Slather on the sunscreen and stay covered.

I've been on this for a year and it's been great for my BP. The dizziness went away after a few weeks and I haven't had any major side effects.

I had a persistent cough for a couple of months but my doctor said it's a common side effect and it eventually went away. Just stay hydrated and it should be fine. But if it persists, definitely talk to your doctor.

Seriously though, if you start experiencing weird skin changes, get it checked out. My cousin had a mole that changed shape and it was skin cancer. Better safe than sorry.

I switched to this combo because lisinopril gave me a terrible cough, so I'm glad I made the switch. I've also been careful because the diuretic can mess with your electrolytes, so I make sure to eat plenty of potassium-rich foods like bananas and spinach.

I have been on this for 6 months, no side effects at all. FPV is down from 150/100 to 120/80 consistently. I weigh myself every morning and if I am down 5% I call my doc immediately.

I'm a bit nervous about the potential kidney problems. Has anyone had experience with this? What were the symptoms and how were they managed?

I can vouch for the allergic reaction symptoms. I had a red, itchy rash on my arms, thought it was some plant touching my skin, but then I figured out it was the drug. Torch it.

I had a persistent stomach pain for the first month, but my doctor said it was due to the medication, she assisted me to use some natural supplements alongside the medications which helped me a lot. I had my BP under control in no time. I also tried to chew on some ginger slices whenever the pain got bad.
