I've recently been prescribed Cholestyramine Powder to help manage my high cholesterol levels. I've read that it works by binding to bile acids in the intestines, which in turn helps lower cholesterol levels in the blood. I'm curious to hear from others who have used this medication. What has your experience been like? How well does it work, and have you had any side effects? I've also heard it can help with itching caused by liver conditions. Any insights on that would be great too! But most importantly, what should I expect in terms of side effects? How do I know if something is serious enough to call the doctor about? I've noticed some mentions of constipation, but what about other things to worry about? Any suggestions or tips for managing side effects would be much appreciated!

I had to stop taking it because of severe stomach pain. Turns out I had a bowel problem that the medication exacerbated. It was scary, but thankfully, I got medical help right away. My advice? If you experience any severe side effects, don't hesitate to call your doctor.

I can't deal with the constipation, so I'm switching to another medication.

I take Cholestyramine for my liver condition, and it's been a game-changer for the itching. I have to mix it with something sweet, since it tastes terrible, but it's worth it. Just be aware of the potential side effects and stay in touch with your doctor. Also, it's important to take it at the right time, so it doesn't interfere with other medications. Always check with your doctor about that.

How bad is the constipation? Does anyone else experience it? Would love to hear other people's experiences.
