I was recently prescribed Isosorbide Mononitrate 20mg Tabs to prevent chest pain caused by heart disease. The medication is supposed to relax and widen blood vessels, which should help reduce the heart's workload. However, I've been experiencing persistent headaches since I started taking it. The doc said it might be a common side effect from starting the medication. Has anyone else dealt with this? Are there any tips to alleviate the headaches without messing with the dosage?

I've been on this for a year. No headaches, no chest pains. Doctor recommended me a diet plan along with this drug.

You should cut back on caffeine and alcohol. Both of those can increase the side effects.

I got really dizzy the first time I took it. Felt like I was on a roller coaster. But that passed too.

I started with a higher dose and got really bad chest pains. Thought I was having a heart attack. But it calmed down once I got my dose right.

Maybe your dose is too high. Or maybe too low. You should discuss this with your doctor. Dosages can vary.
