Venlafaxine ER is an antidepressant medication that works by affecting certain natural chemicals in the brain (serotonin and norepinephrine) that help regulate mood. It's used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and panic disorder. The 'ER' means extended-release, so it's taken once a day. I'm on 150mg and have been struggling with some side effects. Difficulty sleeping, nausea, and feeling jittery have been tough. I've heard about some serious side effects too. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any tips for managing the side effects? I feel like I'm not alone in this but need some advice. What has worked for you all?

Do you think the benefits outweigh the side effects for everyone? I’m feeling really hopeless right now and I’m not sure if this is the right choice for me. Any advice?

I've experienced some sexual problems too. It was tough at first but my partner and I talked about it and it’s all good now. It’s important to communicate with your partner if you’re experiencing this too.

I started on a lower dose and worked my way up, which helped with the side effects. My doctor was really supportive through the process.

I've had the same issues with sleep. Melatonin before bed has helped me a lot. Also, try to avoid caffeine after noon.

Do you know if these side effects are supposed to get better over time? This is my first week on it and I'm already feeling a bit better.

Watch out for low sodium levels. I had some crazy symptoms that turned out to be hyponatremia. It was really scary, but luckily my doctor caught it early.

I've had the opposite experience. I felt better within a week. But I also had to change my diet a bit to handle the nausea. Smoothies helped a lot.

I've been on Venlafaxine ER for a few months now and the side effects have definitely lessened. Just give it some time and talk to your doctor if things get too rough. Also, staying hydrated and eating well helps.
